     The purpose of school especially elementary school is to educate, learn new skills, and be creative. Elementary school is the first time for many that you are away from your family and forced to make friends and try new things. The purpose of school is to educate, elementary is where we learn all of the basics we will use for the rest of our lives such as not to cheat, to always try your best, and learn to share. These things can be a big change for some students especially if they are only children. School is also a place to learn new skills such as how to color in the lines, memorizing the abc's and the colors, sharing, how to hold a pencil, and even discipline. School is also where a lot of students go to feel safe, where they might get their only meal for the day, and consistency.     The marginalized students in schools are those who are questioning their identity and those who feel as if they don't fit in.       Hi my name is Rachel and I will be a junior at Texas State University. My major is elementary education and I hope to get a minor in special education. I have always wanted to be a teacher since I was little but recently switched my major to education. I have always wanted to become a teacher because I have always had a love for kids and helping them achieve their goals. I have a cousin with autism who lives in the Virgin Islands where they have limited access to average education let alone special education. I hope that I will be able to make a difference in the special education field wherever I may end up.        I am planning on teaching first or second grade the first few years and then switching over to special education. I have always loved playing and teaching kids my whole life, I am looking forward to being a consistency in my students lives. I can't wait to see them grow and achieve their goals.
